You'll learn how to play basic chords, practice strumming patterns, and be introduced to several popular songs from Hawaiian, folk, and pop genres. The ukulele is the perfect portable instrument for beginners and a great starting point for those who want to experience the joy of music!

You'll have a blast getting creative with an array of percussion instruments, such as the bongos, djembe, cajon, and congas. We will experiment with all sorts of rhythms and participate in a large group drum circle to create our own unique percussion compositions. This workshop tends to be lively as everyone's energy feeds off each other's as we play a variety of percussion music styles from around the world!

I offer ukulele and percussion workshops designed for K–12 teachers to cover techniques for incorporating new instruments into their lessons or expanding on their current skill set to use existing instruments in new ways. For example, percussion workshops can include topics such as world drumming, non-pitched percussion, bucket drumming, rhythm work to imitate a drum kit, and hand techniques for creating different rhythms and polyrhythms. For either the ukulele or percussion workshops, I can introduce new styles and genres of music to help keep students engaged. These workshops are fully customizable to meet the needs of teachers and can be taught at an introductory or advanced level. Workshop times are flexible and can be offered for 2 hours, a full day, or a half-day, depending on the content you would like covered. Please book a free consultation to discuss your PD Day ideas, and I would be happy to provide you with a quote following our conversation.

The introductory workshops cater to groups of 5-15 participants and run for two hours. I provide all necessary equipment for the percussion workshop, while participants can either bring their own ukulele or opt for a rental service. I also include a break halfway through the session and an open question period at the end, so everyone can recharge and ask any lingering queries.
Workshops prices vary depending on the number of attendees and rental requirements. If you're interested in hosting a workshop, please don't hesitate to contact me through my contact page. I'd be more than happy to discuss your event in more detail and provide you with a quote!
