Hi, I’m mike carver.
As you read through my biography, please enjoy this performance!
Hi there! My name is Mike Carver, and I'm a professional musician and music teacher from London, Ontario. I've been teaching for over 10 years and I'm highly experienced in teaching guitar, ukulele, percussion, bass, and drums. I also teach rock band classes and run workshops to help students improve their skills and gain more confidence.
I started playing music in high school when a close friend introduced me to the drums, and I was instantly hooked. I later went on to study at the University of Western Ontario under the tutelage of Dr. Jill Ball, where I honed my skills and expanded my knowledge of other percussion instruments. I had the opportunity to perform in a variety of settings, including wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz bands, contemporary ensembles, rock and Celtic bands, and choirs. Some of the notable groups I played with include the Stratford Symphony Orchestra, the International Symphony Orchestra, the London Youth Symphony, and the King's University Choir.
After eight years of teaching, I created my own studio called DrumLondon, where I taught a variety of instruments and worked on personal recording and performance projects. These included CarvElder, a marimba vibraphone duet, Quintessential, a jazz combo, and The Rhubarb, a Celtic trio. As time went on, I began to learn, perform, and teach more instruments, including the ukulele and guitar.
I'm passionate about creating a community of music lovers, which is why I host recitals, rock band lessons, and group workshops. It's an honour to be able to teach music and help others find the joy and fulfillment that music can bring.
Now, let's make some noise!
